The panel is about the gap between what an AI system costs to buy and what it costs to actually use. The technology bill is the smaller of the two numbers. The larger one is redesigned workflow, changed decision authority, and a clear answer to who is accountable when the system is wrong.

A full day on moving artificial intelligence out of pilots and into an operation at company scale, with twelve speakers and a closing dinner at the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum. NAW published the findings a week later, and they were not what most of the room expected going in.
A half day on how artificial intelligence is changing work and what it can do for the people industry does not usually build for. Three tracks ran across the afternoon: workforce development, industrial applications including digital twins and workforce analytics, and AI applied to social good.
Putting those in the same programme was deliberate. The engineering that improves a plant and the engineering that improves a relief operation are closer than either community assumes, and the exchange only happens when both are in the room. Ron Norris and Mike McFarlane of Pilko AI Advisors spoke on the industrial side, and Pilko's own write-up afterwards described the day as spotlighting how data, digital twins and workforce analytics are shaping safer and more connected industries.
The Social Good Council →The first symposium the consortium ran under its current name was held inside an operating chemical site rather than a hotel, opening with a welcome and safety briefing from Brad Morrison, Senior Vice President and General Manager of BASF Freeport.
The afternoon covered improving safety with AI, presented by Adam Berg of TechnipFMC, BASF's own work on industrial digitalisation and smart manufacturing from Dr Heiko Kulinna, manufacturing optimisation from Michael Burgess of Crenlo Engineered Cabs, and data strategy in industrial applications from Elias Brown of Vallourec, with an industry roundtable moderated by Mike McFarlane. The day closed with a trustee meeting and a networking dinner in Pearland.
Co-hosted with the University of Kentucky at the Gatton Student Center, the afternoon opened with a welcome from I. S. Jawahir, Director of the Institute for Sustainable Manufacturing, and a keynote from Dr Fazleena Badurdeen on building industrial intelligence for next-generation manufacturing.
Sessions covered workforce development in the era of AI with Elias Brown of Vallourec, machine learning for spot welding from UK researcher Joe Kenshaw, and AI-driven innovation in manufacturing from Dr Hasan Poonawala, with a student poster session in the middle of the programme. A closing panel on the barriers to AI adoption brought together Konrad Konarski, Joe Cellucci of Enable Consulting and Michael Braun. Dr Badurdeen went on to speak at the Texas A&M symposium a year later.
Smaller than a symposium and built around a working problem rather than a programme, hosted inside a member's own building or at a university partner. The format is a keynote, a panel, a briefing and then roundtables, and the day is structured so that people leave with dated plans rather than notes. The closed ones are closed because that is where anyone will describe what went wrong in a deployment.
An invitation-only session on agentic AI and hyperpersonalisation for enterprise leaders and platform architects, running from early afternoon to half past seven. It was built around a keynote, a panel on moving proof of concept into production, a regulatory briefing, and roundtables that ended with participants holding thirty, sixty and ninety day pilot plans.
Built to bring together the operators, architects and researchers doing the work rather than describing it. A fireside chat on why some pilots scale and others stall, a panel on what is left of agentic AI once the claims are stripped out, and a third on how operating models change when AI becomes routine. Martin Gonzalez of bp, Dr Nezih Altay of DePaul and Konrad Konarski spoke, with contributions from Vallourec, Elmhurst University and the University of Michigan, and a student voice session before closing.
The council is convening technology and financial services executives from across the Bay Area for its next closed session. The agenda is being set with members now, and the working themes are agentic systems where money moves, privacy-preserving collaboration between institutions, and what explainability has to look like when a supervisor asks.

The working sessions at Visa are smaller and closed, and that is a working decision rather than a posture. An executive will describe what went wrong in a deployment when the room is not being recorded and will not do it from a conference stage, and the Texas A&M symposium's most useful finding came out of exactly that kind of exchange.
Membership of one of the six councils is how organisations get into those rooms, and it is also how the agenda gets set, because each programme is built from what the councils are working through at the time.
The public conferences need nothing but a registration. The next one where consortium people are on the programme is Digitalization in Oil & Gas in Houston on 10 September 2026, and the hour either side of a session is usually the easiest time to find them.
